アジャンター第１７窟壁画。壁画は狂象調伏の場面。
猛り狂った象が人混みを荒々しく走り、驚いた露天商が店をたたみ、逃げようとして人々が素早く走っている。
第１７窟は素晴らしい僧院で、多くの壁画の傑作で飾られていて、保存状態もよい。
第１窟とともに最高の見所の1つ。
天女 A flying Apsara(Nymph)の壁画は特に有名である。

Subjugation of The Furious Elephant(Right wall,verandah).

When Buddha visited his capital his cousin set free a mad elephant to kill the Great Being.
The furious elephant is shown running wildly throuh a crowded street.
The frightened shop-keepers are closing their shops.
Bypassers are running swiftly for their safety.
Ultimately the elephant reached Buddha,who pacified him by a mere compassionnte touch of
his hand,while the people witness the miracle with amazement.
